People’s Choice Award – prize winners

“What you like about Lee Point”

Ist Prize – “Nature’s Window” by Alesha Hakanson – My collage depicts the many unique creatures and beautiful habitats, which make Lee Point special.

 

2nd Prize – “Migratory Birds- Marsh sandpiper” by Caitlin – In Art class we completed pictures of migratory birds that migrate to Lee Point. I chose the Marsh sandpiper. Sandpiper in front of sunset.

 

3rd Prize – Jelly Fish by Emma Lewis – My artwork tells a story about the jelly fish and the importance of keeping the water habitats of Lee Point clean.

4th Prize – The breathtaking lorikeet of Lee Point by Annmariya Joseph – Lee Point’s an amazing place to visit from the astonishing wildlife to the magnificent sunsets, so its a shame some never get to see it.

 

5th Prize – “Perspectives and views of Lee Point – Watercolour and Photo” by Caitlin Boulton – Watercolour art inspired by some photos I took while at Lee Point with the dogs and family on sunny/overcast day.

 

About the Competition

Around 170 artists from the Territory created artworks for the Lee Point Art Competition and People’s Choice Award during Feb – May 2022. The public rated artworks (using a star rating from 1 to 5) and the artworks with the highest total number of stars were selected as the (5) People’s Choice Award winners.

Special thanks to: the anonymous donors and Nightcliff Lions for donating $600 in prize money. City of Darwin for displaying (under 19 years) artworks at Casuarina Library from 7 May to 6 June 2022 and all the artists who entered making this a special event.
