Mar 29 – BioBlitz at Casuarina Coastal Reserve

Friends of Casuarina Coastal Reserve organised the inaugural BioBlitz for Casuarina Coastal Reserve (CCR) on 28-30 March 2025.

A BioBlitz helps the community to better understand and protect biodiversity.

Citizen scientists (of all ages) teamed up with scientists to survey; birds, reptiles, vegetation, microbats, ants, and small mammals. Volunteers from Friends of Lee Point helped out with some of the surveys.

The photos below are from one of the bird surveys on Saturday morning which recorded 34 bird species from different habitats in 2.5 hours, refer eBird

Favourite food: crabs

These harmless White-bellied Mangrove Snakes were a lucky find on the bird survey. They got everyone excited and distracted people from the survey for a time.
