ABC Darwin Radio reported on Monday, 24 August, that DHA is carrying out asbestos removal at Lee Point. Temporary fencing and signage indicate operations are focused between Lee Point Road and Lee Point Dam.
There are concerns that these site works could also involve land clearing. The Save Lee Point community believes that DHA lacks the necessary approvals to undertake clearing at Lee Point and has written to both DHA and relevant ministers seeking urgent advice on whether clearing is planned for this month. A response from DHA has been requested by 12:30 pm today.
