There are very few cities in the world that have a place like Lee Point on their doorstep. It makes Darwin special (Friends of Lee Point).
Do we need to house thousands of people at Lee Point and what are the options?
Housing thousands of people at Lee Point will change Lee Point forever. Councillor Julie Fraser is intending to move these motions (paraphrased here) at the next City of Darwin meeting to limit the impact on Lee Point:
- Defence Housing Australia works be limited to Lee Point Stage 1A (area with houses on it) and alternative sites be selected.
- No environmental offsets be considered for defence housing work at Lee Point
