Representatives from Save Lee Point and DHA are to be invited to present their concerns to council in early 2026. Other resolutions were about getting cost estimates for legal advice and studies relating to further subdivisions at Lee Point – refer 2 Dec Unconfirmed Open Minutes (Section 13) in Agendas-and-minutes

It was clear from the recent Lee Point Public Forum that the community wants council to take a more active role in urban planning and does not want further subdivisions at Lee Point. It was also evident that council had yet to undertake a comprehensive cost/benefit evaluation for the Lee Point municipal assets.
Councillor Julie Fraser intends to initate a series of motions to obtain additional information, namely to have council:
-
- seek legal advice on whether it can refuse to accept further subdivisions at Lee Point (only Stage 1A with houses would be accepted)
-
- obtain a formal explanation of the process by which City of Darwin acquires municipal assets from the planning to final acceptance stage
-
- obtain a comprehensive business case on the long-term cost/benefit of accepting/maintaining further subdivisions at Lee Point for Darwin ratepayers.
-
- invite representatives from the Save Lee Point campaign to present their concerns on housing thousands of people at Lee Point
Friends of Lee Point and Planning Action Network (PLan) have been running this PETITION in support of not accepting further subdivisions at Lee Point.
